Job Title: Full-time and Part Time Position at Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, Nova Scotia
Job Description: We are looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented person who is looking to make a meaningful difference in people's lives during a sensitive time. We are seeking a full time/part time worker to join our team at Chandlers’ Funeral Home. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring that funeral services run smoothly and that families receive the support and care they need during a difficult time.
Responsibilities:
Assistance with Funeral Arrangements: Provide support to families and funeral directors during the visitation and funeral. This may include greeting and assisting visitors, answering phones, and providing information about funeral services.
Setup and Maintenance: Assist with the setup and maintenance of funeral service areas, including chapel, reception room and visitation areas. This may involve arranging flowers, setting up chairs, and ensuring the space is clean and presentable.
Transportation Support: Help with transportation logistics, including moving caskets, floral arrangements, and other items as needed as well as transport of human remains to the funeral home and crematorium.
Clerical Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks such as filing paperwork, organizing documents, and managing inventory of supplies.
Customer Service: Provide compassionate and empathetic support to grieving families and visitors, offering assistance and guidance as needed.
Qualifications: Compassion and Sensitivity: A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with grieving individuals and families is essential.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required to ensure that funeral services are carried out with precision and care.
Physical Fitness: Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely and comfortably is necessary for tasks such as body removal and placement, casket transportation and cemetery setup.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effectively interacting with families, colleagues, and visitors.
Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required.
Also needed is Grade 12 or equivalent (GED), a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record/clean abstract, must be
bondable and, if requested, provide a criminal record check.
