WENTZELL – Kathleen M., 96. of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Ryan Hall, Bridgewater on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
Born in Crowthorne, Berkshire, England, Kathleen was a daughter of the late Jared and Ethel (Froud) Woodage.
Kathleen came to Canada as a war bride and worked alongside her late husband Earl as a light keeper for the Department of Transportation on Beaver Island off Port Dufferin and Mosher Island off Lahave for twenty years. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Brooklyn and a member of the ACW. Kathleen was a proud member of the Nova Scotia War Brides Association and enjoyed bowling in the Monday morning coffee league for many years. She was also an avid camper and loved to camp at Orchard Queen Campground as well as throughout the valley.
Kathleen is survived by her daughters Joan Johnson of Brooklyn; Margaret Doran of Millet, AB, Elva Anderson (Junior Snair) of Black Point, her sons Sydney (Christel) and Glen (Nita) both of Edmonton, AB and Eugene (Janus Naugler) of Camperdown. 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Her sister Barbara Austin of England.
Besides her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Earl, her sisters Caroline, Alice and Evie and her brothers Harry, Ivor, Fred, Bert, Hedley, George and Sydney.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Brooklyn. Reverend Cherry Workman officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Anglican Cemetery, West Berlin. Family flowers only, donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church.
