Helena Eurydice Wentzell

Wentzell, Helena Eurydice, 97, of Mersey Point, Queens County, passed away on Sunday, November 3rd, 2013, in the Queens Manor, Liverpool.

Born in Broad Cove, she was a daughter of the late Aden and Ola (McLeod) Smith.

She was a pastry chef for six years at White Point Lodge, a lighthouse keeper on Coffin Island with her husband Wallace with whom she also fished with for many years. Helena also enjoyed sport fishing and hunting with her husband. She was a member of Grace Anglican Church A.C.W. and the Queens Manor Auxiliary.

She is survived by sister Melita Hirtle, of Tampa, Florida; brother St. Clair (Rosemary) of Martin’s Brook; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Wallace; sisters Elaine, Norma and Madelyn.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 5th, 2013, from 7-9 p.m., at Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A celebration of Helena’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 6th, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., from Trinity Anglican Church. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery, Bog Road, Liverpool. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Queens Manor or to a charity of your choice.
