Vicki Lynn Lewis

d. March 12, 2025

Lewis - Vicki Lynn (nee Freeman) age 68, passed peacefully on March 12, 2025 at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, Nova Scotia.

Born in Liverpool, Vicki was a daughter of late Vernon and Beverly (Boland) Munroe.

Vicki grew up in Eagle Head, the eldest of 9 children. She attended District 7 School and LRHS until working as a caregiver to the elderly, a live in nanny for children, a housekeeper for Lanes Privateer Inn, and a cook at the Transcotia Motel Restaurant. Vicki then returned to caregiving as a vocation while she worked hard to proudly earn her GED. Vicki volunteered with Boy Scouts Canada, as well as serving as a Sunday school teacher out of St. Andrew's Anglican Church and was a faithful and hardworking member of the Anglican Church Women while able to serve. Vicki believed in the power of community and was able to make meager resources flourish into many beautiful moments with her hard work and love. Vicki enjoyed a full, loud house - her annual girl's parties were always a blast, playing cribbage, whist and 7-Up (a favorite that helped solidify foundational learning around numbers with countless children in her care), gardening, reading, baking and cooking for those lucky enough to indulge in her talent for making delicious, nutritious meals and treats alike. Vicki was a resilient, strong woman whose life revolved around the children she loved and cared for. She, like her mother before her, was a mother to all who sought that unconditional love and connection. Vicki's persistence and pride in her work was only paralleled by that which she shared with her children and family in times of struggle and in joy. She had unlimited love, patience and hugs for whomever needed it. To say she will be missed by those that knew and loved her is an understatement. Her many hours spent crafting with her granddaughter Pyper, and doting on her granddaughter Gabriella were the highlight of her days. Nanny loved her girls with all of her heart.

Vicki is survived by her daughter Penny (Amber) Lewis of Liverpool; sons Derek (Jody) Lewis of Charlottetown, Andrew (Jessica) Freeman of Milton, Jerod Lewis of Liverpool; sisters Cheryl (Steve) Beaton, Brenda Munroe, Lori (David) Drew, and Julie (Byron) Thorburne; brothers Ricky (Becky) Munroe, Ronnie (Lisa) Munroe; grandchildren Dresmond Cudmore, Cassidy Lewis-Cudmore, Pyper Munroe, Gabriella Freeman, and great-grandaughter Raven Cudmore.

Besides her parents, Vicki was predeceased by her husband Gerard, brothers Brian Munroe and Glen Munroe.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday April 5, 2025 at the Liverpool Firehall from 2-4 in the afternoon.

Vicki's family would like to thank Dr. Jennifer MacDonald for her years of dedication and care, and to the staff of Queens General Hospital for the care and support she received while there. Online condolences may be made below
