Dorothy Maxine Veinot

VEINOT – Dorothy Maxine, 98, of Caledonia, Queens County, passed away peacefully in North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia, on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.
Born in Maitland Bridge, Annapolis County, she was a daughter of the late Robie and Pansy (Thompson) Ford.
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Dorothy left this world on December 15, 2020 to go to a better place to reunite with her husband and other relatives and friends who passed before her. Dorothy was an avid bridge player. Being a person who just couldn’t sit and do nothing, she spent many hours sewing knitting and of course quilting, something she took great pride in. If those corners we’re not perfectly square they would be taken out and redone until they met her standards. She was also a wonderful baker and cook. If you entered her kitchen you were not leaving before you ate something, whether it be a full meal, a cookie or a square, or just a piece of her famous bread. She also spent many hours across the road at the nursing home where she helped to feed the patients. A big joke at her 90th birthday celebration was when she said she used to go over and feed the old people, most of whom were younger than she was. Thus it is only fitting that Dorothy took her last breath in the nursing home. Tremendous thanks goes out to the wonderful staff of the North Queens nursing home who are so good to her and helped her in her journey home. Also, tremendous thanks to all the wonderful ccas from Queens County home care who made it possible for Dorothy to remain in her home as long as she could. You all made her life that much better.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Judy Frail of Caledonia; sons Donald of Halifax, NS; and Doug of Caledonia. Grandchildren Nathaniel, Emily, Rebecca, Jordyn, Hayley, Chris and Angela; great-grandchildren Aubrey, Abigail, Cohen, Logan, Brian, Alaura, Peyton and Hayden.
Besides her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Oran, her sister Isabelle Lohnes; brothers Oscar, Randall, Lawrence and Kendall.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date. No flowers by request, donations may be made to North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia, or to Westfield Community Hall. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.chandlersfuneral.com
