It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Alfred “Alfie” James Titus, 86, of Caledonia, Queens County on Saturday, September 17, 2022 peacefully at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Tiddville, Digby County, Alfie was a son of the late Will and Vicey (Tidd) Titus.
In his younger years, Alfie moved to Northfield and worked for Sheldon Rawding and Oran Veinot, helping run their farms. Alfie then spent many years employed at the Caledonia Lumber Mill, where he worked up until his retirement. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as hunting, snowmobiling, riding his ATV “Bug”, raising animals on his mini farm, gardening, and working in the woodpile with his wood splitter. He was always available to give a helping hand to anyone he found in need. Alfie especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, all of whom he held most dear.
He is survived by step-daughter, Hilda Simpson of Stanley Section; step-sons, Allan (Madeline) Tufts of Westfield, John Tufts (Ronna Young) of Harmony; step-daughter in law Carolyn Tufts of Annapolis Royal. He was a proud step grandfather of 12, Tracy, Junior, Charlotte, Marcus, Wilson, Melissa, Rachel, Davey, Katie, Jordan, Reannyn and Jolene. And a loving step great grandfather of 24, Katrina, Colton, Dixie, Krystal, Tyler, Samantha, Makayla, Wesley, Haley, Jaxon, Brooklyn, Layne, Rebecca, Vanessa, Brandon, Cameron, Aiden, Abigail, Logan, Madison, Christopher, Jessica, Nolan and Alanna; and 7 step great great grandchildren, Kinley, Paisley, Callie, Stella, Lola, Silas and Lincoln; several nieces and nephews.
Alfie was predeceased by his loving wife, Amy; step-daughter, Phyllis Merry; step-son, St. Clair; sisters, Marion Titus, Christina Chute, Dorothy Deveau and a brother, Charles Titus.
Family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Highland Cemetery, Caledonia. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the North Queens Fire Association, Highland Cemetery Fund, Mountain Lea Lodge, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
