Terrence Sharman Metcalfe

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Terry Metcalfe, 66, of Hunts Point on August 9, 2024. We take comfort knowing that he passed in his sleep. His final week was spent at the cabin, watching his grandsons, Ben and Jack playing and sitting by campfires with his family. He would have thought that was a perfect ending.

His greatest pride in life was his sons, Mike and Mark. Nothing gave him more pleasure than spending time golfing with them, telling stories and sitting listening to music. Terry lived his life to a soundtrack of often loud classic rock music. Always saying, “What do you want to hear next?”

He coached all the sports his sons were involved in growing up. Spending countless hours at rinks and ball fields and later retelling many of those memorable games in great detail.

He always loved and supported his wife, Shelley in everything she did. He was a true partner in life.

He enjoyed visits with his mom, Judy, his sister, Kim, and his brothers, Rob and Chris. During Covid, he spent hours putting together trivia game meetings to keep in touch with everyone in the family.

Terry taught for many years in Queens County. He loved being a teacher. He also enjoyed all of the extra-curricular school sports and the connections he made with so many students through coaching.

He had a group of friends from his days at Teachers College that meant the world to him. Every year they found a way to come together and reminisce about the stories that kept them so close.

Terry has been cremated under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. He had expressed his wish for no funeral. There will be a gathering of friends and family at a later date. Online condolences may be made below.

We miss him so much already. But he’s left us with so many wonderful memories. If heaven is in the hearts and minds of those you leave behind, Terry is there now with his best doggie friends, a Bud Light and a heck of a great playlist.
