SMITH – Lester Ernest, 84 of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 in Queen’s General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Liverpool March 31, 1925, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Edith (Woodworth) Smith.
Lester was the last remaining member of his immediate family. He worked for C & R Railroad, Pepsi Cola Company and for Bowater Mersey Paper Company for 28 years. Lester loved camping, fishing, animals and spending time with his family, all of whom he felt very close to. Lester enjoyed his gardens in the spring, which where complemented by many.
Lester is survived by his partner Evelyn Herman, step-sons Gary (Gayle) Stewart, Carlson (Suzie) Herman, Darrell Herman and Chris Herman, step-daughters Debbie (Bruce) Fancy and Colleen (Renate) Bennett-Herman and a number of step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Lester is also survived by step-sons Lester Jr. (Fern) Whynot of Milton, Sherman (Caroline) Whynot of Lunenburg, step-daughters Shirley (Richard) Peirce of Edmonton, Alberta and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Violet Grace (Joudrey) (Whynot) Smith, step-son Lorraine Whynot, step-daughter Maxine Wentzell, sisters Elsie Jollimore, Grace Clattenburg, Jeanie King and Margie Horton and brother James Smith.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 19th, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 22nd, 2010 at 2:00 p.m from Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Bog Road.
