George Warren “Ticker” Smith

Smith, George Warren “Ticker”, 73, of East Port Medway, Queens County, passed away on Wednesday, November 27th, 2013, at Hebbs Cross, Lunenburg County, as the result of an automobile accident. Born in Centreville, Cape Sable Island, he was a son of the late Samuel and Julia (Ross) Smith. George was a fisherman for all of his working life. He enjoyed deer and duck hunting and working in the woods. George enjoyed life to the fullest, and was always willing to give a helping hand to a friend or neighbor in a time of need. He has left many memories in our hearts and will be sadly missed. He is survived by his loving companion Marion Clattenburg; daughters Georgia Birt, Tina Quinlan, both of  Barrington, Karen (Rob) Romain, of Clare; son Richard (Mary), of Shelburne; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters Edna Swimm, of Clarks Harbour, Violet (Max) Stoddart, Norma (Phillip) Cameron, Kathleen (Winburn) Cameron, all of Woods Harbour, Madeline Smith (Leon Ringer), Betty (Gordon) Farmer, both of Shelburne; brothers Lenny (Rita), of Woods Harbour, Donald (Marie), of Bear Point, Norman (Ella), of Yarmouth, St. Clair, (Marlene), of Shelburne, Bernard, of Shag Harbour. He was predeceased by sisters Beulah, Helen; brothers Ruby, Russell, Mervin and Melvin. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Celebration of George “Ticker’s” Life will be held on Saturday, June 14th, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception, all from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Reverend Shona Boardman officiating. Burial will be in Mill Village Community Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
