Louise Sinclair

SINCLAIR, LOUISE
Louise Sinclair died peacefully, July 10, 2018 holding hands with husband Dan in her 76th year and surrounded by her loving children Sean (Julie) of Hamilton, Ontario and Jenny (Dan Hasselman) of Halifax, NS.
Louise leaves behind grandchildren Simon and Melanie (Jenny and Dan), Sarah, Rachel and Aaron (Sean and Julie) and husband Dan after 54 years of marriage.
A Journalism graduate from Ryerson in 1964, she had various careers ending as Executive Director of Oakville Re-Entry Homes, a supportive housing program for those suffering serious mental illnesses.
Because of her involvement with the Block Parents of Canada program, Louise was honoured as Junior Citizen of the Year in 1976 in Burlington, Ontario.
Retirement in 1997 to the village of Port Medway, Nova Scotia on the beautiful South Shore brought Louise the quiet peace that we both always appreciated. It was also a chance for her to discover her talent as a fibre artist, taking part in many art shows and sales during the years and also being part of the Port Medway Readers’ Festival from 2002 to present.
She wanted to express her deepest gratitude to the community of Port Medway and others nearby for their love and support as well as wonderful gifts of food and flowers to brighten her days as she battled pancreatic cancer. You have all been amazing friends.
Mere thanks cannot express the depth of our gratitude to Drs. Andrew Blackadar and Debra Gowan, the nurses on the 2nd floor at Queens General Hospital and the entire palliative care team that loved and supported Louise all this time..your laughter, hugs and kisses as we travelled this journey meant everything to her.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandler’s Funeral Home in Liverpool. Sometime in the fall, we will hold a memorial wake for family and friends in Port Medway. Should you wish to remember this remarkable woman that was the light of our lives, donations in memory of Louise can be sent to the Queens General Hospital Foundation, 175 School Street, PO Box 528, Liverpool, NS, B0T 1K0 or www.QGHFoundation.ca
“When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head down. Remember the time we have had and miss me but let me go”
