Words cannot express the depth of the sadness and the deep aching sense of loss by the passing of Irene May Sarty, of Liverpool at the age of 84 on February 10, 2023.
Irene was born in Port Medway, the daughter of the late Adam and Myrtle (Hubley) Selig.
In her early years, Irene had a brief career in retail before becoming a devoted mother. She went on to provide child care to numerous families in the community of which she would often reminisce. Irene was a dedicated TOPS member where she enjoyed many friendships and social gatherings.
Irene lived her life with a lust for adventure and fun; a lifetime of loving her family and friends. She loved reading, dancing, music and travel.
Mom was the foundation of our family. She instilled great values, such as living within your means, appreciation, respect and to live life to the fullest as she would say “Don’t sweat the small stuff.”
Irene is survived by by her daughter Melanie (Paul); son Kurt (Anne); grandchildren Paige, Jalisa and Brennan. Sister Annabelle; brother Ernest (Vicky); sister in law Sally; brother in law Roger (Margaret) Sarty; sister in law Verna Bleiker; step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband Wallace; her son Wally; brothers Wilson “Buddy” and Raymond, her sister Lorna; sister in law Muriel, brothers in law Jack and Henry.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion United Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool.
