Roy – Melvin Roderick

Roy, Melvin Roderick, 61, of Port Mouton, Queens County, passed away on Thursday, November 13th, 2014, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.  Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late Orville “John” and Muriel “Kathleen” (Williams) Roy.  The best words to describe Melvin would be honest, generous and quick witted. He was very well respected by his family and friends. He had a passion for the sea and was always happy when fishing or taking family or friends on his boat for a fun run. Melvin loved spending quality time with his grandchildren more than anything. Emma his teapot and Lucas, who he loved to go hunting with, but rarely was there a deer harmed on their many outings.  He is survived by his loving daughter, Felicia (Donaldson) Fisher, of Port Mouton; grandchildren, Emma, Lucas; sisters, Patsy (Burnell) Allison, Hollis Bowers (Ralph Baker); brother, John (Maryann); all of Port Mouton; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Joel; sister Mary Mazie; brothers, Leonard, Bobby.  A Celebration of Melvin’s Life will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Reverend Steven Hopper officiating. Burial will be in Peaceful Hill Cemetery, Port Mouton. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Queens General Hospital Foundation (kidney dialysis unit).
