ROY, Barry Francis – It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our cherished son, father, husband, brother and uncle, Barry Roy on March 24, 2017.
Barry was a humble intellectual with a sense of humour that could bring light to any situation. In the immediate hours after his passing, we tried to make light by reminiscing on how he would have reacted to the events that had just occurred bringing comfort and laughter through the tears. Memories of his warm personality will be a great help in the many difficult days, months and years to come. Barry was happily married to the love of his life, Tonia for the past 7 years. They shared a happy country life with their cherished pets in Shubenacadie, N.S. Barry took great pride in being a loving father to his son, Jordan and his stepson Craig. He was always there to provide advice, guidance and support. Not only was he a great father to Jordan, he was a best friend, one that will be irreplaceable and forever missed. Barry was a notable father figure to his cousin, Cathy’s three children; Cory, Brad and Stephanie Arthurs. He was the family’s go-to handyman, always working to find innovative solutions to any challenge he faced. He spent his time enjoying many creative hobbies such as painting, drawing, singing and song writing as well as researching to keep up on the latest technological trends.
He is survived by his mother Elizabeth Roy, wife Tonia Roy, son Jordan Roy, stepson Craig Lee, brother Steven, sisters Sherine and Rhonda as well as his beloved nieces and nephews Brian, Ashley, Michael and Hailey.
Barry was predeceased by his father, Maxwell Roy and his beloved cousin, Cathy Connolly.
