           FORD - Roderick B., 79 of Maitland Bridge, Annapolis County, Passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31st, 2024, in Annapolis Health Care Centre.

           Born and raised in Maitland Bridge, Roderick was a son of the late Oscar and Gertrude (Winters) Ford.

 In his younger years Roderick painted houses and worked at Kejimkujik National Park. Roderick then went onto teachers college and taught for 34 years, 32 of  which were spent teaching in Milton. He always enjoyed teaching and the interaction with his students. Roderick grew up enjoying gardening, hunting, fishing and trapping. He loved the outdoors and in the winter enjoyed collecting brush to make wreaths. Roderick became a pillar in the community looking after the cemetery and community hall.

 Roderick is survived by his sisters Doreen Gordon ( David Cumming) and Pansy Ford both of Alvinston, Ont., and Elizabeth (John) McMurray of Maitland Bridge; his brother Glenwood (Diane) Ford and his sister in law Sandra all of Maitland Bridge. Roderick will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews and the many friends he made along the way.

 Besides his parents, Roderick is predeceased his sister Madeliene Ellison, his twin brother Roger and his brothers Robert and Allen.  

 Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A gathering to celebrate Roderick’s life will be held in Maitland Bridge Community Hall on Saturday, June 8th from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maplewood Cemetery, Maitland Bridge or the North Queens Fire Department. On line condolences may be made below.

 The family would like to thank Roderick’s doctors and the wonderful staff at both Digby and Annapolis Hospitals for his care.
