Edith Maxine Rafuse

Rafuse – Edith Maxine, age 88, of Hunts Point, Queens County, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.

Born in Port Mouton, Edith was a daughter of the late J. Everett and Lillian (Wagner) Rafuse, the eldest of six children.

Edith worked for many years in the newspaper industry, starting out as a linotype operator at the Liverpool Advance. She soon began branching out working various jobs in the newspaper industry at numerous newspapers in Nova Scotia, over the course of her career. Edith was also well known in Queens County as the Avon Lady, a job she also enjoyed for many years. Edith was a very artistic person and she loved to create beautiful things. Every piece she created whether it was a quilt, an afghan, needlepoint, embroidery, macramé, toll painting, or anything at all, it was perfect and came from the heart. Edith was a very competitive person in any activity she undertook, especially when it came to playing any sort of game. She also enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was so loved and will be deeply missed by her family and close friends.

Edith is survived by daughters, Barbara Muise (Paul Smith) of Waterloo, Ontario, Deborah Muise of San Francisco, California; son, Kevin (Mirella) Muise of Yarmouth; granddaughters, Courtney, Holly; great grandchildren, Logan, Ava and Lily; sisters, Beverley Lynch of Yarmouth, Jackie Hatt of Montreal, Pat Patterson of Hunts Point and Jeannette Rogers of Halifax.

Besides her parents, Edith was predeceased by her loving husband, Alan Muise and brother, James.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A gathering of family and friends in Edith’s memory will be held on Sunday, May 21st, 2023, from 2:00 until 4:00 pm, at Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool.
