Candace Faithe “Candy” Palmer

PALMER – Candace Faithe “ Candy”, 61, of Windsor, N.S., died suddenly and unexpectedly in St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver, B.C. on Monday, January 19th, 2015 from surgical complications.
Candy grew up in Windsor, N.S. and attended Windsor Regional, Edgehill School for Girls and Sacred Heart in Halifax. She studied music at Dalhousie University in Halifax, McGill University in Montreal and the Guildhall School of Music in London, England. Candy lived in Montreal after University where she worked as a dental assistant. After moving back to Halifax, she worked as a dental assistant then as a real estate agent before starting to teach piano to young children which was one of the main passions in her life. She was also very passionate about singing, travelling and animals. In her fifties Candy began to train as an elephant handler or “Mahout” at the Maesa Elephant Sanctuary in Northern Thailand. As a young lady in Windsor, Candy had her beloved boxer “Ruff” then, as an adult, she also had three Afghan dogs, two miniature schnauzers and one Vietnamese pot – bellied pig. Candy loved life and lived it to the fullest. She will be remembered for her ready smile, her wonderful laugh and her loyalty to her close friends. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband Kevin Turner; and her brother Father John Palmer C.S.V.; her niece Kelly Palmer; her half sisters Andria, Cheryl, Rhonda and Jean Palmer.
She was predeceased by her father Owen Palmer; her beloved stepfather Carl Leighton; mother Madeleine Leighton; brother William Palmer and her half sister Penny Palmer.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 25th, at 11.00 a.m. in St. Gregory’s Catholic Church Liverpool. Celebrant of the Mass will be Candy’s brother, Father John Palmer. Burial will be in Zion United Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the S.P.C.A..
