Morash - Murray Robert, 83, of North Brookfield, NS, passed away peacefully in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on Saturday, July 20, 2024.

Born in Chester, Murray was a son of the late Walter and Gertrude (Zinck) Morash.

Murray attended Acadia University and, following university, he went to work with the Nova Scotia Department of Highways. Over his working years, Murray worked in Digby, Baddeck, Bridgewater, ending his career as a Highways Engineer working at Purdy’s Wharf in Halifax.

As a young man, Murray discovered his ability and love to paint perfecting his skills over the years. He was self taught and produced many beautiful pieces of artwork. His favourite themes were nature and marine scenes with many paintings of sailing ships. His talent was greatly admired proven by the many paintings sold privately and from an art gallery in Lunenburg.

Murray was ready to have a conversation on most any subject. His quick wit always allowed him to have a remark at the ready. He was a good cook and a welcoming host. Murray enjoyed nature and spent much time in North Queens (Tupper Lake) canoeing and camping with friends. In 2000, he bought a property in North Brookfield where he enjoyed a relaxed lifestyle with the wildlife and birds that frequented his yard.

Murray is survived by his best friend and partner, Nadine Mansfield; his sons Stuart of Halifax and Craig (Julie) of Singhampton, ON. His grandchildren Kayla LePage, Sarah LePage (Brennen DeVouge) and Gage Morash.

Besides his parents, Murray was predeceased by his son Stephen in infancy; his sister Maureen Pepper-Crawford and his brother Grant.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. No flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.

The family would like to thank Dr. Leanne DeLong, the staff at North Queens Medical Centre, the Doctors and Nurses and all the staff at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater for the care and compassion that was given to Murray.
