Canning - Muriel R, formerly of Caledonia, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Ryan Hall, Bridgewater on September 10, 2024 with her niece Jeanne Martin by her side.
Born in Caledonia, Muriel was a daughter of the late Gerton and Zillah (Smith) Carver.
Muriel was owner and operator of Muriel’s Canteen in Caledonia for many years and was well known for her hamburgers. She loved to swim, listen to country music, dancing and going for drives and ice cream. Muriel loved her family and spending time with them.
Muriel is survived by her son Richard (Joan); her grandchildren Corby (Fiona), Melonie and Michelle (Kent). Great grandchildren Brandon, Logan, Anneke and Adelaide. Her sister in law Doris Carver as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Muriel was predeceased by her husband Victor, her sisters Melda DeMings, Anne Firlotte, Dorothy Ringham and infant sister Helen Rose. Her brothers Allan, Byron, Ormonde and Ralph.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. Visitation and funeral service will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with service beginning at 2:00 p.m. all in Caledona United Church, Caledonia, NS. Reverend David Lutes officiating. Reception to follow in the church vestry. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Caledonia, NS. No flowers by request, donations may be made to Caledonia United Church or the North Queens Fire Association. Online condolences may be made below.
