MORTON –  Capt. Ralph E. (ret.) CD, 80, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.
Born in Liverpool, Ralph was a son of the late James and Elsie (Peach) Morton.
Ralph attended Liverpool Schools and completed G.E.D.. In his earlier years, Ralph worked at two service stations in Liverpool with L. Farmer and Whynot Services. He attended Nova Scotia Agriculture College in Bible Hill, NS and specialized in poultry. He also attended Nova Scotia Safety College in Masstown, NS and studied excavator operations. After returning from Agriculture College, Ralph, his wife, Shirley and family moved to West Dublin where they bought a poultry business and built a new home. Ralph was also owner-operator of a construction company, Lunenburg Queens Construction which later became Ralph Morton Construction.
Ralph attended many Canadian Forces courses at Canadian Forces bases and achieved the rank of Captain serving for about 24 years. He also became commanding officer of Liverpool 545 Royal Canadian Air Cadets Squadron serving for about 14 years.  He studied photography at the New York Institute of Photography with his brother, James. Ralph went on to do phases of photography including weddings, babies, industrial, commercial, portraits, passports and many more.
Ralph served as a leader of a boy scout troop in Petite Riviere and also as President of the Nova Scotia Poultry Association and was a member of Mersey Branch #38, Royal Canadian Legion, Liverpool.
Ralph also had other ventures such as Oak Ridge Paintball Park and had a passion for his vineyards.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley (Oickle); his daughters, Angela (Jeff) Roy of Liverpool, Tina (Scott) Norman of Hebbville, and his son, Evan (Rose) Morton of Slave Lake, AB. His grandchildren, Tiffany (Troy) Bowers, Mariah Chatelaine (Kelly LeBlanc) and Joel Roy (Laurie MacAulay). His great-grandchildren, Eden, Owen (Rebecca Holmes) Bowers and Oliver (Alicia) Bowers and Jett Chatelaine. His sister, Marie Langille of Liverpool, sisters-in-law Donna of Hamilton, Ontario, Beulah, Vivian and Elsie; his brother-in-law Leslie.
Besides his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his granddaughter, Meredith; his sister, Clara Dorey and an infant sister, Sally and his brothers, Douglas and James.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool where visitation will be held Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.. Funeral service will be held Monday, June 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in Highway Pentecostal Church, Brooklyn. Pastor Fred Carr officiating. A private family burial will take place following a reception.
