Maryann E. Rhyno

d. May 16, 2024

It is with very broken hearts we announce the passing of Maryann Elizabeth Rhyno, 62, of Brooklyn, Queens County on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at home.

Born in Liverpool, Maryann was a daughter of the late William E. and Alice M. (Roy) Oickle.

Maryann worked at the Metropolitan, Red Apple, Bargain Shop and the Saan stores for many years, before hurting her back and having to leave her job behind. She always enjoyed listening to music or reading a good book. Something by Stephen King, John Saul or Dean Kootnz got her blood circulating. She enjoyed gardening until at first her back, then her knee bothered her then COPD got so bad she had to stop all together. She also enjoyed cross stitching and diamond art. Everything was not perfect, but it was doable until she got COVID in August of 2022. After that, things went downhill for Maryann. Her COPD became too much for her to handle; breathing without the help of oxygen changed everything for us. We know she didn’t want to leave us all just yet, but we also know the time had come. We will forever love and miss her always.

Maryann is survived by her loving husband Scott; sons Jonathan of Port L ’Herbert and Matthew (Kim Croft) of Liverpool. Also Maryann’s fur babies Lexi and Ozzy. Maryann is also survived by her brother Billy Oickle of Liverpool.

Besides her parents, Maryann was predeceased by her godmother and special Aunt Dorothy Fredericks.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, N.S. A graveside service will take place Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Brooklyn Community Cemetery. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Family flowers only, donations may be to the SHAID Tree Animal Shelter, Hope for Wildlife or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made below.

The family would like to give a very special thank you to all her palliative care nurses, doctors, VON and Home Support.  You made Maryann’s time with us as comfortable as you could. Always remember “ We are here for a good time, not a long time, so have a good time, the sun don’t shine every day” - Trooper
