Mary Elizabeth Plummer

d. October 13, 2024

Plummer, Mary Elizabeth, 80, of Brooklyn, Queens County passed away peacefully at Queens General Hospital on Sunday, October 13th with her family by her side.

Born in Liverpool, Mary was a daughter of the late Robert and Maybel (Anthony) Whynot.

In her early years Mary worked at the former Garneau Seaman’s Restaurant but once married, dedicated her life to making a home and raising her family. Mary later worked many years at the Liverpool Bowling Alley.

Mom was a very strong and independent person not wanting anyone to alter or go out of their way in their lives for her. She made the decisions concerning how she wanted to live.

Mom enjoyed, watching the Home Shopping Channel waiting to pounce on a great deal if it were something she wanted, visits from all members of her family especially the great grandchildren.

Mom will be missed by all her family and has etched her life in the hearts of us all.

Mary is survived by her son Steven (Heather) Plummer, Brooklyn, daughters Kim (Jeff) Cunningham, White Point, Sharon Plummer (Ross Hepditch) Italy Cross, Kelly (Roger) Mann, Brooklyn. Grandchildren, Sarah Plummer (Neil Whynot), Chris (Mallory) Plummer, Kaitlyn Cunningham and Carter Mann. Great Grandchildren Lexie and Ethan Plummer, Maxx and Seth Whynot. Brothers John (Peggy) Whynot, Ross (Barbara) Whynot, Sisters Susan (Junior) Oickle and Vicky Schrader all of Liverpool.

Besides her parents Mary was predeceased by her husband James Plummer, sisters Gail Whynot, Louise Fralic and brothers Robert Whynot and Peter Whynot. Brothers-in-law Dennis Fralic and Bernard Schrader.

No funeral by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers Funeral Home, Liverpool, N.S. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. No flowers. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice. Online condolences may be made below.

A special thank you to all the staff at Queens General, Dr. Blackadar, Dr. Kosh, Dr. Abuelgasim, VON and the Palliative Care Team for their care and compassion during Mom’s illness. A special note of thanks to Heather Plummer who was there everyday to care for, support and chat/story tell with Mom for the past few months.
