Mabel Lee (Corkum) Mansfield, 76, of Liverpool, NS passed away at Queens General Hospital on January 31, 2025.
Mabel grew up in Kempt working on the family farm. She moved to Harmony in her teens, became a homemaker and raised her three kids. As her children got older, she got part time jobs to occupy her time until her children were grown and gone. When the kids left home, she started her career with Dexter's as a flag person for two plus decades. This job gave her purpose and financial means to do what she loved to do: "Run The Roads", bingo, penny auctions, variety shows, family gatherings (which she insisted on bringing more than she needed too) and looking after her cats. She was always there for family. She loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Life was good but not without adversity where she battled two stents with cancer over the years.
Over the years she volunteered in the Caledonia Ladies Auxiliary and other community groups and events. As the years passed, the homestead became too much to manage. She temporarily moved in with family members until she decided to move to Liverpool for subsidized living. The decision was hard but living close to her two sons made it much easier.
She is survived by her two sons Brian (Kim) Mansfield of Liverpool, Rodney (Shelley) Mansfield of Liverpool, daughter Brenda Mansfield (Dwayne Wamboldt) of Mahone Bay. Five grandsons Gavin, Ben, Ryan, RJ and Randy. Two granddaughters Alisha (Kevin) Backman-Mansfield and Krista (Adam) Dares. Six great grandchildren Bella, Braxton, Brooklyn, Evan, Liam and Jace.
She was predeceased by her mother Eleanor Corkum and sister Joan Mansfield.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandler's Funeral Home Liverpool. A private family graveside service will be held in Harmony at a later date.
Donations may be made to Queens General Hospital Foundation Liverpool or charity of choice.
The family would like to thank the staff on the Medical floor of the Queens General Hospital for everything they have done for the past two weeks.
