Verna Marguerite Lannan

LANNAN – Verna Marguerite, 81, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens Manor, surrounded by her loving family on April 7, 2015.

Born in Liverpool, she was the daughter of the late George and Violet (Schrader) Oickle.

Verna enjoyed sewing, knitting and working on puzzles. Her greatest joy was that of her loving family and enjoyed spending time with each of them. She had a special place in her heart for each little one that arrived in her family. The smile on her face and joy in her heart could be seen endlessly when any were around her. She will be remembered by many things including the kisses she gave; whether you wanted it or not, she was giving the biggest one on your cheek she could. She also enjoyed her weekly trips to Salvation Army Thrift store and the dollar stores around Liverpool, especially at Christmas although she never bought a stitch of wrapping paper. It was all saved from year to year as she sliced the tape, piece by piece, with a knife while the anxious grandkids watched on; one of her many traits her family will remember and cherish.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Fred, of Liverpool; daughters, Janet (Bobby) Broome of Brooklyn and Rosetta (Ronald) Anthony of Milton; son, Cecil Lannan (Vicki Conrad) of Gull Island; brother, Otis (Barb) Oickle; granddaughters, Shelley (Kevin) Weagle, Lisa (Jeff) Zwicker, Amanda Broome (Stephen Belding), Jennifer Broome (Stuart Selig) all of Brooklyn and Melissa (Darcie) Foley of Liverpool. She has 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Madge Whynot and Carolyn Fancy; brothers, David, Alfred and Robert Oickle.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home and a private family service will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the Queens Manor in Liverpool. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.chandlersfuneral.com
