Kelvin Wallace 1943-2024

Kelvin was born in Tobago in 1943, leading a very interesting life as a Captain of Vessels, including yachts of the famous (Jackie Kennedy Onassis), teaching diving & fishing (Pierre Trudeau) free diving with Jacques Cousteau & regular dinner dates with Lois Maxwell and Sean Connery (Money Penny & James Bond); so our Kelvin always had so many tales to tell.

In the 1970’s he followed the love of his life, Gladys to Toronto where they married in 1972. Gladys had always visited Queens County as her best friend Art MacLeod was born in Liverpool; so, over the years they became friends with many in Liverpool. In approx. 2004, Gladys insisted Kelvin retire and they moved to Nova Scotia, much to his disdain but the lure for him was the promise of a large garden; so, Gladys moved him, whilst he was out for the day, literally.

Kelvin had three passions. Of course, the first was Gladys, second was his garden where you would find him noon and night and lastly fishing. He loved all aspects of fishing, especially the tournaments and his buddies but his times with his grandson Jason he especially loved. Every winter he would plan his strategy of how to win the next seasons tournament. Sadly, Gladys passed away in 2014, but his buddies and pastimes kept him busy

Kelvins illness has been a short timeframe, and he was given great care in Queens Hospital. The family were able to bring him home, only due to the generous loan of a bed from the Anthony Family and the care given by Melissa Whynot (MacLeod), our “Angel from Heaven”. Additional assistance from Kim Munroe & Susan Fisher, the family are eternally grateful to them all & also to the VON for their meticulous care. Finally, a thank you to the palliative care team (Nicola & Kim), due to their guidance & oversight; that Kelvin did not suffer and left this world under his own terms to his “celestial home” to be with Gladys. A final thank you to Dr Gibson of palliative care for his kind words and respect he showed towards Kelvin, it was much appreciated.

The family say goodbye to a Fine & Good Man
