Higby, Laurie Craig Age 56
It is with profound grief that we, his family, announce the passing of our beloved Laurie. Laurie passed away suddenly on White Point Rd, in Liverpool NS on July 05, 2021 as a result of a sudden Cardiac Event.
Born in Shelburne NS, he was the son of Sheila (Goodwin) Stuart (Graeme) of Bridgewater NS and Bill Higby (Pat) of Surrey BC. He spent his formative years growing up in Lockeport NS, moving with his family to Liverpool NS in 1981.
Laurie was employed at Brooklyn Power as a Power Engineer and previously worked at Whynot Services with Gavin in his early years.
Laurie loved spending time in his garage, which he referred to as his happy place. When he wasn’t working to perfect his own car, he would be helping others with theirs. He took great pride in his car, which he spent several years doing a meticulous restoration on. He loved to go to car shows. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of White Point Golf Club for many years, enjoying the many friendships formed there. Laurie was passionate about his friends and formed many close personal friendships in all aspects of his life. He will be particularly missed by his friends Karen Cowie and Scott Carson, whom he spent much time with. He is loved and will be missed by his many cousins and extended family.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his stepdaughter, Candace (Oickle) Buck, her husband Jonathan, and their two children, brother Jamie, nephew Brendan, and stepfather Graeme, to whom he was very close.
