HANLEY – Borden Leon, of Liverpool, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 22, 2015 in Queens general Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Caledonia, Queens County, he was a son of the late James Lester and Hilda Maria(Fancy) Hanley.
Borden filled his life with everything automotive. Starting out in 1972 with drag racing was the beginning of a very full life. Racing, new friends, trips to PEI to the track was just the beginning. Building cars, trucks, engines that went on for decades and was the love of his life. The thrill of the ride was what it was all about. Borden made his environment exactly how he wanted to live. His life was fast and short, but, most of all, full. His family and friends were his everything.
He is survived by his wife Margo (Fisher); daughter Shannon Hanley (Steven Demone) of Bridgewater, his grandchildren Garrett Hanley-Lunn and Layney Hanley-Lunn. His sister Mildred Zwicker of Bridgewater, brothers Clarence (Grace) of Yarmouth, Paul (Beverley) of Bridgewater, Edward “Junior” (Marietta) of Waterdown, ON. His close friend, racing partner and “#1 son”, Neil (Penny) Benedict of White Point.
He was predeceased by his brothers Everett, Raymond, Basil, Lester and a brother in infancy.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Funeral service will be Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. A private family burial will take place at a later date following cremation.
