Gordon "Gordie" Stephen Munroe

MUNROE - Gordon “ Gordie” S., 68, of Port Medway, passed away peacefully with family by his side at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, Friday, March 7, 2025.

Born in Liverpool, Gordie was a son of the late Percy and Ada (Colp) Munroe.

Gordie was a fisherman all his life, working at the local fish plant. Gordie was a member of the Port Medway Fire Department for many years. He was an avid music lover, playing the drums sixty plus years. He was the founding member of the band “Top Notch” currently playing with his son Stephen, Steve Veinot and John Dexter and numerous other bands over the years. He loved to hunt and fish. Gordie loved spending time with his K9 companions Diesel and Mutzie, but above all else family meant everything to him.

Gordie is survived by his son Stephen (Kristy Jollimore) of Port Medway; grandson Horatio; sisters Nettie Wilson of Midville Branch, NS, Cindy Smith of Liverpool, NS; brother Gilbert of Bridgewater, NS.

Besides his parents, Gordie was predeceased by his wife Sheila, sister Beetie Himmelman and brother Harold.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home Liverpool, NS.

A celebration of life for Gordie will be held at a later date. No flowers by request, donations may be made to Port Medway Fire Department or charity of choice. Online condolences may be made below.
