Andrew Roger Godfrey

Godfrey, Andrew Roger, age 82, of Beach Meadows, passed away on Sunday, December 15th, 2019, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.

Born in Brooklyn, he was a son of the late Arnold and Marion (Cole) Godfrey.

Andy spent his early years working on the scallop draggers and many years at Mersey Bowater Paper Mill. He recently just retired from lobster fishing, where one of his greatest joys was being able to do it with his son Kim. Andy could often be seen driving his pick up truck with Ben, his faithful black lab by his side. A bigger than life personality, Andy was a natural people person, he absolutely loved talking to people, hearing about their lives, helping and making them laugh. Many afternoons were spent spinning a yarn in the back yard shed with his buddies. Andy will be remembered for his ability to make you feel like the most important person in the world. If he liked you, you were a friend for life. Above all else, he was most passionate about his family and spending time with them. He will be deeply missed by everyone.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian; daughters, Phyllis Godfrey (Calvin), of British Columbia, Rose Godfrey, of Halifax, Susan Godfrey (Morgan), of Alberta, Ann Godfrey (Jim Brown), of St. Catharines, Ontario; son Kim Godfrey (Christine Watson), of Beach Meadows; many grandchildren; a great grandson; brother, George (Georgie), of Kingston, Ontario.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary; brothers, Reginald, Edward, John and David.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A celebration of Andy’s life will be held Monday evening, January 6th, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m..
