Frederick Robert Howard

In the early hours of April 4th, Fred relinquished his grip and slid off to be with his departed family and friends.

By all accounts he lived a blessed and charmed life.

Fred and his twin brother, Tom ,were born in Liverpool and, with the exception of several years spent in Ontario while training as horologists, their home was Liverpool. The boys returned to their family business, Howards Jewellery, which they ran until the early 80’s.

Fred and Tom were renowned musicians, Fred on drums and Tom on bass, holding the beat for several bands, most notably “The Mersey Five”. Most weekends from the late 50’s to the early 70’s was spent on the road around Nova Scotia playing dances. Their most memorable gig was an extended stay at Expo ’67 in Montreal.

Fred’s retirement years were spent at the cabin in Greenfield before moving into Hillsview Acres.

Left to mourn are his children Leslie Anne (Bill Maxwell), Margot Elizabeth, Michael Frederick (Anita), Margaret Ellen (Guy Desjardin), Christopher John.

Fred was predeceased by his parents Thomas Charles Robert and Wilma Ann, and his brother Thomas W.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A graveside funeral service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made below.
