Eileen Grace Galbraith

 It is with much sadness we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Eileen Grace Galbraith (Anthony) (86). She left this world peacefully and surrounded by family at the Halifax infirmary on Sunday, August 4th, 2024. 

 She was the daughter of the late Mark Twain and Ida Mae (Zwicker) Anthony.

 Eileen was born and raised in Mill Village, Queens County. After moving to Halifax at the age of seventeen, Eileen trained to be a nurse. She was employed at the Grace Maternity Hospital and enjoyed working with newborns, while raising her family in Uplands Park. Later she moved to the Department of Public Health as a nurse in schools and in the communities of HRM until she retired. 

 After retirement, she returned to her family home in Mill Village where she enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with friends, family and cherished pets. Eileen was an incredibly kind, strong, generous person who will be greatly missed. 

 She is survived by dearest son, David (Terry), John (Bret, Freya), and beloved daughter, Susan (Darrell). Adoring granddaughters Lindsay (Colin), and Lauren. Devoted brother Edward (Donna), special niece Michele and treasured cousin, Victor Anthony. Notable mention to her life-long friends, Jamie, Barb, Lorraine, Marie, Maxine and Helga. 

 Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. We welcome family and friends for a graveside service at New Charleston Cemetery in Charleston, Queens County, at 11am on Thursday August 8th, 2024. Online condolences may be made below.
