Dexter – Pauwlina (Seaman), 77, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 9th, 2018, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Den Bommel, Holland, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Adrianntje (Kleybergen) Holleman.
Pauwlina came to Canada through Pier 21 in Halifax, where her family settled in Waterville, Kings County. She attended high school where she excelled in sports. Upon graduation she worked at banks in Halifax and Hamilton, eventually moving to Liverpool where she co-managed Seaman’s Discount Store and Seaman’s Cottages in Summerville, Queens County. In early 1990 Pauwlina and Paul started South Shore Shuttle and it was a first of it’s kind in Nova Scotia and many roads were traveled.
Pauwlina is survived by her husband, Paul W. Dexter, of Liverpool; daughters, Pauwlina Cyca (Blake) of Calgary, A.B., Dina Dexter of Vancouver, B.C; sons Dannie (Angela) of Nineveh, Ike (Monse) of Tofino, B.C., Paul Seaman (Lilith Addams) of Liverpool, John Dexter, at home; grandchildren, Melissa, Mariah (Ben), Devan, Sophia, Paloma and Cormac; great grandson, Owen Woodworth; sisters, Dina Noteboom, of the Netherlands, Lena Miedema, of Berwick, Joanne Noordermeer of Centreville, Adrianna (Ada) Taylor of Rossway, Wilma (Vaughn) Bosma, of Fredericton, N.B.; brothers, Ary (Valerie) of Dartmouth, John (Janet) of Cambridge, Simon (Marion), of Grafton and Anthony (Sheana), of Falmouth.
Pauwlina was predeceased by her first husband, Daniel Seaman and brothers Cornelius (Kees) and Mattheus (Matt).
As well, Pauwlina’s memory will be cherished by many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Memorial/ Celebration of Pauwlina’s life will be held May 25, 2019 at Summerville Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception at Seaman’s Cottages.
