Donald Clarke Delong

DeLong, Donald Clarke, 91, of Kempt, Queens County, passed away on Sunday, April 19th, 2015, at North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia.

 Born in Albany New, he was a son of the late Guy and Pearl (Sheiffer) Delong.

 Over the years Donald worked for the Mersey Paper Company as a truck driver, as a school bus driver and for Nova Scotia Power as a utility operator. Donald was very active in his community, he was a member of the North Queens Fire Department for over 65 years, a past Boy Scout’s Leader, a member of the Kempt United Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years, a member of the North Queens Male Choir, a former director of the Queens County Fair , a member of the North Queens Board of Trade and he was a faithful worker for many years for the breakfast program at the Caledonia School.

 He is survived by a daughter, Sheila (Terry), of Albany New; son Lowell (Rose), of Stewiacke; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great great grandson; sister, Phyllis (Hubert), of Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews. 

 He was predeceased by a his loving wife, Rosalie; brother Randall.

 Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015, from 1:00 -1:45 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., all from Kempt United Baptist Church. Reverend John Boddy officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Kempt. Family flowers only. Donations may be made the North Queens Fire Association,  Kempt United Baptist Church, or to the North Queens Nursing Home (palliative care unit).
