CROUSE; Peter C., 69, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2023 after fighting cancer for several years.
Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late Ernest Crouse and Polly Crouse-Freeman.
Peter was proud of his teaching career of 33 years. He was an avid reader, and strove to ignite a passion for reading in his junior high English students. He ran the school yearbook for many years and loved working with students on a creative project.
Peter was happiest in nature, whether it be gardening in their backyard, or camping at his beloved Keji with his sons, or fishing the Medway River and other storied streams in Queens County. “It would be great to get a canoe out there” was his first thought upon seeing any body of water, and he was always the first one up in the morning to get a fire ready for breakfast, no matter the weather at the campsite. While whitecaps on the lake would be a cause of concern for some, Peter loved surfing them in a canoe with a wide grin on his face. “May the wind always be at your back”.
He kept an active lifestyle and developed a love for tae kwon doe and kickboxing. He also had an artistic side and expressed it through writing stories, painting, and drawing, and he was constantly curious and learning about new topics in the world.
Peter was a loving father. He loved playing with his sons, being involved in childhood activities, and supporting family projects. He was so proud of his two sons and loved to connect with them, and he drew much inspiration from them over the years.
Peter is survived by his wife, Andrea (Rowan); sons, Brian and Bradley (Ellie); and brother, Greg (Pamela), who will always be the “big brother”, who saved him from drowning in 8 Mile Lake.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday Feb 8 from 6-8 PM at Chandlers Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Thursday Feb 9 at 11 AM at Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel with Father Joseph officiating. Reception to follow the service. Private family burial to follow. Donations may be made to the Queens General Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Online condolences can be made at www.chandlersfuneral.com, and the family would be touched to hear any stories or memories you have of Peter.
