Verna Jean Corkum

Eagle Head, Queens County Corkum (nee. Bowers), Verna Jean, age 69, passed away peacefully with family at her side at the Queens General Hospital on August 11th, 2020.
Born in Liverpool, Verna was the daughter of Frances (O’Connell) Bowers and the late Gilbert Bowers.
Verna was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was an active community member all of her life; rarely did a community function take place without one of her famous cakes or homemade desserts. She showed her love by feeding and taking care of everyone. You couldn’t stop by without her whipping up a quick meal, snack, or at least a coffee.  She was the glue that held her family, and many others together. The love and relationships she cultivated remain strong because of her.
She is survived by loving husband of 50 years, Artie, daughters Jayleen, Sarah (Amanda), Shaninne (Shaun), Leah (Jess); brother Stephen (Lisa) nieces Jill (Steve) and Jessie (Ryan), and nephew Chad (Amy); grandchildren Talla, Tessa, Wesley, Grayson, Emma, and Sophia. Proudly was ‘Auntie Nan’ to Carson and Gage.
She was predeceased by her father Gilbert.
Cremation to take place under the direction of Chandlers Funeral Home in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. . No service as per her wishes, family gathering to take place at a later date. Donations can be made in her honor to the Queens General Hospital Foundation. Verna’s family would like to thank the staff of Queens Home Support, as well as the private care workers who offered support and care during the last few years of her journey. Special thanks to the staff of the Queens Manor, as well as the wonderful staff on the medical floor of the Queens General.
