Corkum – Myrtle Kathleen

Corkum – Myrtle Kathleen, age 103, of Bridgewater, formerly of Beach Meadows, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Ryan Hall, Bridgewater.

Born in Eagle Head, Myrtle was a daughter of the late William and Blanche (Weagle) Conrad.

Myrtle had a beautiful smile, a heart of gold and deep faith. She was incredibly kind and her love touched many lives. Myrtle was a life long member and supporter of St. John’s Anglican Church and the ACW. Myrtle was an incredibly talented quilter – designing and hand stitching many, many quilts. She was also an accomplished knitter, and rug hooker – skills she was happy to share with others. Her work was well known and she enjoyed showing off her works of art at local shows and exhibits. She was a thrifty woman who never threw anything away that she thought she could use again or fix. Above all else, Myrtle was most passionate about her family and spending time with them, especially her beloved grandchildren. She is loved and will be greatly missed.

Myrtle is survived by daughters; Marilyn Sibley of Dartmouth, Ferne Jollimore of Brooklyn; grandchildren, Lynn Sibley, Jo-Anne Sibley and Tabetha Jollimore; great Grandchildren, Tim Hilchey, Dan Hilchey and Jacob White.

Besides her parents, Myrtle was predeceased by her loving husband, J. Donald Corkum; sisters, Evelyn Hemeon and a sister in infancy; brother, Parker Conrad; sons-in-law, Norman Sibley and Victor Jollimore.

A Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, May 17th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in St. John’s Anglican Church, Eagle Head. Reverend Cherry Workman and Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Burial will be in Beach Meadows Community Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Eagle Head.
