CONRAD – Maxwell “Max” T., 78, of Eagle Head, Queens County, passed away peacefully in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
Born in Eagle Head, Max was a son of the late Harry and Irene (Munroe) Conrad.
Max began his working career as a plumber and was involved in the plumbing of Queens General Hospital during its construction. Max decided on a different career path when he gave up plumbing to pursue a successful fishing career which lasted until his retirement. His sons, Ronald and Terry, became fishermen because of Max’s passion for fishing. When Max wasn’t fishing, he enjoyed deer hunting, carpentry, (he helped Ronald build his house in which Max did the plumbing!) playing cards, especially whist. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his “grand pups”. He will be lovingly remembered for always giving each great grandchild a five dollar bill every time they visited.
Max is survived by his children; daughter Susan (Albert) Whynot of Liverpool, his son Ronald (Verna) of West Berlin, his daughter Judy of Middlewood and his son Terry (Amanda) of West Berlin. His grandchildren Trevor (Kaitlin Ann) and Todd, Patrick (Jessica) and Jason (Lindsay), Kyle (Sadie) and Alex. His great grandchildren Isaiah, Damian and Christian; Sierra W. and Savannah, Sierra C. and Cohen. His sisters: Donna Mansfield of Lunenburg, Hazel Broome of Port Mouton and his brother Reginald “Reg” of Winnipeg, MN.
Besides his parents, Max was predeceased by the only love of his life, his wife Lalia (Lohnes) and his sister Barbara MacDonald.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home Liverpool where visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 7 until 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
