Toby Wayne Colp

The family of Toby Wayne Colp, 52, of Beach Meadows are devastated to announce his sudden death on September 25, 2020.
Born in Halifax, Toby was a son of Jane (Sprague) (Colp) Hansen and the late Paris Colp and step father Esmar Hansen of Liverpool.
After graduating from high school, Toby attended Nova Scotia Community College and Nova Scotia Institute of Technology and eventually earned his Red Seal Certification as an instrumentation technician. Toby enjoyed boating with Lori on overnight cruises and taking the children tubing, whale watching, fishing and camping at their sea shanty on Coffin Island. Cooler weather brought on four wheeling and spending time at the woods camp.
But the true essence of Toby was his devotion to his family. He took on the responsibility of two step children in addition to his own three and he and Lori blended them into a real family. Toby doled out lots of teasing and, when necessary, discipline and treated them all equally. His family meant everything to him and, as the children moved on to begin their own lives, they still came to visit or for help and advice. In addition to his good natured teasing, Toby often had some very interesting assessments and philosophical views on life which often left us laughing or scratching our heads in wonder. His towering presence in our family will always be cherished and will never be gone from our lives.
Besides his mother and step father, Toby is survived by his loving, devoted wife Lori, his children Tyler, Zachary and MacKenzie Colp and step children Marrissa and Tristan Robar and a grandson Silas. Brother Jody (Maime) and their children Sybastian, Austyn and Madyson of Lumberton, NC. and his father in law Imre Kozegi.
Besides his father, Toby was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Mossie and Sidney Colp and his maternal grandparents Pauline and Cyril Sprague.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brooklyn Gazebo next to the marina. A private family burial will be held at a later time in Beach Meadows Community Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Queens General Hospital Foundation or to the IWK-Grace, Halifax. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com
All those attending Toby’s service are required to bring their own mask, practice physical distancing where possible and provide the funeral staff with contact tracing information.
