Patricia Jane (Seldon) Cochrane

Cochrane, Patricia Jane (Seldon), was born in 1933 to A. Laurence and Alberta (Smith) Seldon of Liverpool, Nova Scotia. Pat graduated from Liverpool High School followed by a bachelor degree from Acadia University where she met life long friends and the love of her life, King Cochrane. After Acadia, Pat moved briefly to Montreal prior to marrying King and ultimately returning to Liverpool where she and King raised four children and became strong contributors to the Liverpool community.

Pat was a big believer in giving back to her community. She volunteered to a diverse range of groups from the Winds of Change Drama Society, Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool Hospital Auxiliary, School Board, Children’s Aid, to the Acadia Alumni Board and generously supported many more.

Pat will be missed by a great number of people. Always the life of the party, she truly loved her friends and enjoyed making new ones. Never one to let the world pass her by, Pat travelled extensively, realized many of her dreams and was game for just about anything including zip lining at 80! Her hobbies over the years included being a dedicated horse show / basketball / hockey mom, old bottle archeologist, avid swimmer, curler, bowler, over night canoe tripper, skier and passionate sailor. In her later years she was active in the Seaside Bridge Club and the Seaside Strummers Ukulele group.

Pat is survived by her sister Lynn Seldon of Liverpool, and her four children, Lynn Cochrane (Barry Taylor) of Chester, Jamie Cochrane (Barbara Meagher) of Bridgewater, Larry Cochrane (Katharina Seitz) of Liverpool, Jill Swain (Graeme Swain) of Ardoise and her beloved grandchildren, Emma, Katie, Mark, Carter, Franci and Sammy. Her passing leaves a huge hole in all our hearts.

A service will be held Tuesday, August 17th, 2021, at 11:00am, from Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Those attending Pat’s service are reminded that COVID-19 protocols are in place. Please wear a mask, hand sanitize, provide contact tracing information and practice physical distancing wherever possible. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Queens General Hospital Foundation or to Trinity Anglican Church.

In lieu of a reception following the service the family would like to invite you to join them in a Celebration of Pat’s Life on September 18th, at 2:00 pm at her home in Liverpool. It was Pat’s request that a Jimmy Buffet theme set the tone of the event so colorful is the key word here.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jamie McKinnon, Natalie Brooks (Palliative Care), VON, and her dedicated team of care givers, Betty Tarr, Gail Hemeon, Bev Hann and Howard Pearson. Each in their own way helped make a difficult time much easier.
