Jean Elizabeth Chandler

CHANDLER – Jean Elizabeth, 81, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2014 at home with her family by her side.

Born In Liverpool, on July 17, 1933, she was a daughter of the late David and Millie (LeBlanc) Swaine.

Jean’s fondest memories are of raising her family in the loving and nurturing environment created by all the wonderful families who lived on Waterloo Street, (affectionately referred to as the “Waterloo Street Gang”). Later in life, she spent many enjoyable summers at Ponhook Lake where she made many life-long friends. She will be remembered for her passion for baking and cooking and ensuring that everyone was well fed and well cared for. She was an avid reader, knitter and loved to do battle with the daily cryptoquotes.

She is survived by her son Brian (Debi) of Baddeck, her daughters Susan (Wayne) Rafuse of Liverpool, Anne (David) Lohnes of Brooklyn, grandchildren David Chandler, Katie (TJ) Brown, Bren Rafuse (Sarah Brannen) Ali Rafuse, Ashley and Kelsey Lohnes, great grandchildren Grace and Bailey Brown, brother David (Ellen) of North Carolina and great aunt Dorothy Block of Yarmouth.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill Chandler and her twin sister Joan Smith.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandler’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date in St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery, Liverpool. Donations may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses, Queens County Branch or to a charity of your choice. On line condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.
