Cora Ellen Burgess

Burgess; Cora Ellen, age 81, of Liverpool, formerly of South West Port Mouton, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Thursday, June 24, 2022.
Born in Central Port Mouton, Cora was a daughter of the late Walter and Mildred (Broome) Huphman.
Cora spent her younger years working at White Point Lodge in the housekeeping department before spending most of her working years at the Nickerson Fish Plant and C.W. McLeod Fisheries in Port Mouton. Cora was a very colorful person, smart, comical, and strongly willed and opinionated (but in a good way). She enjoyed knitting, bingo, smoking her cigarettes and the occasional drink. Cora was an amazing cook and baker. She was always the life of the party and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Cora is survived by her daughter, Corrine Wolfe of Liverpool; grandchildren, Theresa, Charles, Angel and Kyle; great grandchildren, Brianna, Brooke, Antonio, Teyanna, Christopher, Tyra, and Carter; great great grandson, Wesley.
Besides her parents, Cora was predeceased by her loving husband, Charles Burgess, loving companion, Miles Williams; grandson, Christopher; sisters, Sandra in infancy and Mildred; brother, Bernard.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., from South West Port Mouton Community Cemetery. Reverend Judy Cross officiating.
